Join us for Ash Wednesday service as we join in with Christians from all over the world on the first day of a forty-day journey leading up to Easter known as Lent. Ash Wednesday is a day where we remember our mortality - from dust we came to dust we will return. But we also remember that because of Jesus journey to the cross and resurrection, death does not have the final word. The Kingdom of God is not a temporal one, but an eternal one. So, Ash Wednesday is a day marked by repentance, that we might live right in light of this truth, and remembrance, that we might give thanks in light of this truth.
On Ash Wednesday, we will worship, hear a message that will set our hearts on course for the forty days to come, and receive communion.
While optional, you will also have the opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes. On this day, pastors traditionally place an ashen cross on the foreheads of all believers. This formational practice does two things. First, it proclaims Christ. As we wear the sign of the cross, we tell the world who we belong do - Jesus and Jesus alone. Second, it is a signal of surrender - the sign of the Cross speaks to the truth that we are surrendered to Christ.
All Hope Chapel locations will join together at our Olathe Location to take part in this special gathering on Wednesday, March 2nd.
