Tis' the season where we return once again to all the traditions surrounding the Christmas season. If we do this in every other area of our life, why not in our faith? Advent helps us to do just that - we once again center ourselves on hope, joy, love and peace that Christmas offers. It is a time where we remember not just that God is real, but that he is good. As the days grow shorter, may your hope grow larger because of the gift that has been given to: us.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
As we head into a season that shouts, “Joy!” we understand that for many, Christmas can be a time of loneliness, sorrow, and sadness. Blue Christmas is a service of healing and hope, designed for those who are experiencing hardship this season to receive the compassionate love of God and others.
Yet, this is not just a service for those who are hurting. While many come to receive, the rest of us come to give. May we be a people who mourn with those who mourn and show comfort to others in the same way that we have been comforted by God in the past.
